Polypin - your choice of beer
** PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION BEFORE ORDERING **
FOR DELIVERY WITHIN ORKNEY ONLY (sorry everyone else)
Your choice of beer in a 5, 10 or 20 litre polypin (bag in box).
The beer choices will vary each week, depending on what we're brewing. Keep checking back to see if the schedule has changed and if the beer you really want is not listed please email, phone or message us and we'll see what we can do.
Note that we fill polypins on demand so it may take longer to dispatch your polypin than regular orders.
What is a polypin?
A polypin is a plastic bag inside a cardboard box that lets you enjoy naturally carbonated, unfiltered beer at home.
What do I need to use a polypin?
Just the polypin! It comes with a self-dispensing tap so you can pour straight from the box. We recommend that you store the polypin somewhere cool.
What’s the beer like from a polypin?
Beer from a polypin is like the cask beer you drink in the pub. It’s naturally carbonated and is not filtered like our bottled beers are, so a polypin needs time for the yeast to settle out before you drink it. The carbonation (fizziness) of a polypin is less than that of keg, bottle and can beer.
How long do they last?
This is a tricky one! Once the polypin is open we recommend drinking within seven days. However, in ideal conditions (cool, dark, and not moving the polypin), the beer will last for much longer than this, possibly more than two weeks. If the beer is kept in a warm place fermentation may begin again causing the polypin to swell and requiring excess gas to be vented off.
** FOR DELIVERY WITHIN ORKNEY ONLY - IF YOU REQUIRE FOR A SPECIAL DATE, PLEASE MAKE A NOTE ON YOUR ORDER AT CHECKOUT AND WE WILL DO OUR BEST TO ACCOMMODATE **
A classic bitter ale that, as Rob once said, is suitable for drinking at any time of the day. Not that we at all endorse a lunchtime beer, save it for special occasions, but you know what we mean - this beer is light and refreshing. At only 3.6% it's one of our lowest ABV beers in a bottle.
Starting with a simple malt bill of British grains we build on this with rather a lot of soft, delicate and low alpha hops from the UK, Poland and Germany for a layered and complex ,yet still ever so refreshing hoppy finish.
Like most of our beers the flavours build and build the further through the bottle(s) you get.
Malts: Maris Otter, Best Pale, Wheat
Hops: soft British, German & Polish hops
Alcohol By Volume: 3.6%
Many, including CAMRA Champion Beer of Scotland.

Swannay's core business is (/was?) pub trade and just when our main customers started to pick up again we get the so-called "Circuit Breaker".
It's bad news for us but worse for the pubs - please support them when you can.
For the next 16 days (or until Magnus Blonde sells out!) we'll offer this box for only £40 + P&P.
16 beers to get you through circuit breaker 1:
2 * Magnus Blonde (50cl bottles)
2 * Orkney IPA (50cl bottles)
4 * Scapa Special (50cl bottles)
8 * Banyan (33cl cans)
We do urge you to support the pubs more than ever when allowed. The first time was hard, this will be harder.
Double Down 440ml can
FRESHLY CANNED 21.10.20 - IN ORKNEY!
Double Down is the first beer we've both brewed and canned in Orkney.
We're so delighted to finally be able to package the beer where we make it, instead of shipping it off island. Canning the beer in the brewery where it's made is better for the beer and the planet.
Read our blog for more info, we'll keep adding to the story throughout the week.
